Salem State University Senior Dissertation: Existentialism Takes the Stage (2018)
A tenant of communications and media I learned at Salem State University is that "the medium is the message." I wanted to incorporate that lens of media analysis into my senior dissertation for philosophy. This essay analyzes two philosophers of existentialism of the same era, Albert Camus and Jean Paul Sartre, who both put forth theatrical works. My argument is that stage plays are a fitting and effective medium to demonstrate existentialist theory.
Critical Writing on the Legalization of Abortion (2017)
Final assignment to demonstrate understanding the fundamental of arguments and critical reasoning in academic writing, with the argument of legalizing abortion using references in both philosophy and sociology.
What is Love? Philosophy Club Presentation (2017)
A presentation I lead for the Salem State University Philosophy Club, as a guiding topic for discussion. In discussion, I most often referenced the book Sex at Dawn by Cacilda Jethá and Christopher Ryan, an anthropological account of the role of sex in human nature and society, as well as providing my personal accounts and reflections as a non-monogamous person.
Public Opinion and the Effectiveness of Democracy (2015)
The Public Opinion course was offered in the Communications department at Salem State, and was taught by a Professor Mark Zaitchik,
who would also teach courses in the Philosophy department. This brief literary analysis assignment discusses the influences of public opinion and public advocacy on the effectiveness of democracy, and is the spark of my interest in media research with a philosophical and ethical approach.

A group project to cross-analyze media coverage and public discourse surrounding a major news event. My task in the group was to focus on the analysis of textual and print media, such as newspapers and published articles. The objective of the course was to learn how to understand differences in tone, language, and contextual intent to provide context on the public reception of the story.
